Electronics and Communication Engineering is an engineering discipline which uses the scientific knowledge of the behavior and effects of electrons to develop components, devices, systems, or equipment which deals with the electronic devices like micro chips, electronic gadgets, and other electronic applications.
Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the largest and fastest growing fields of engineering. It covers a wide range of applications which make our life easier and enjoyable. Radio, television, telephones, computers, automobiles, office machinery and house-hold appliances, life saving medical equipments and space vehicles represent a mere sample in the wide spectrum of application of electronics. Modern society relies heavily on communicating information through mobile phones, TVs, Radios, Telecommunications and Wireless Networks. Electronics and Communication Engineers are a crucial part of meeting this demand.

About the Department:
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2004. The department offers UG and PG courses with an intake of 240 and 36 students respectively. The department has excellent infrastructures facilities, well equipped laboratories and experienced faculty. The department offers PG programme in “Wireless and Mobile Communications” and “VLSI System Design”.
The main objective of the department, right from its inception, is to inculcate a sprite of scientific temper, analytical thinking and train the students in contemporary technologies in electronics and communication to meet the needs of the industry.
Strengths:
A team of dedicate, well qualified and experienced faculty runs the department with specialization in communications, signal processing, VLSI and embedded systems.
Well equipped and established laboratories with software tools such as Multi-sim, Active HDL, MATLAB and 10Mbps Internet facility.
Excellent communication lab with Spectrum analyser, digital storage oscilloscopes, high frequency function generators and Microwave Test benches.

Established in the year 2004, the department now has two sections of UG(ECE) programme and two PG(VLSI , Embeded Systems) programmme. It has the necessary infrastructural facilities required for imparting high quality education and the department is fully structured to meet the contemporary needs of the industry. Imparting high quality education is supported by well qualified and experienced faculty, further support is extended by technically skilled and competent programmers. Seminars, Workshops and Technical Symposia are conducted in the department to keep faculty and students updated with latest developments in various technologies. The students in the department are moulded into competent core Engg and Software professionals, to face the challenges of the industry sector .

Some of the most popular fields in ECE:
Analog circuit analysis deals with design and implementation of electronic devices like transistors and amplifiers.
Signal/image/video processing deals with the analysis and manipulation of analog and digital signals/images/videos.
Telecommunications engineering deals with the transmission of information across a channel such as a co-axial cable, optical fiber or free space. VLSI Design Engineering VLSI stands for very large scale integration. It deals with fabrication of ICs and various electronics components.
Microprocessors and Embedded systems have a wide range of applications from the flight and propulsion systems of commercial airplanes to the cruise control present in many modern cars. It also plays an important role in industrial automation.
