About the course:
Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. Electrical engineering is concerned with the basic forms of energy that run our world like Thermal, Nuclear, gas, hydro, solar, geothermal, wind and tidal energy. Electrical engineers deal with distributing these energies from their sources to our homes, factories, offices, hospitals, and schools. Electrical power is an integral part of modern life. It is impossible to visualize the world without electricity. There has been rapid advancement in generation, transmission and distribution technologies, opening up new frontiers.
Electrical engineers design, develop and maintain electrical systems and/or components to required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality and sustainability which make the human life easier and user friendly. Electrical engineering is a diversified profession concerned with the design and operation of the electrical devices and systems required by our technological society. These can range from the smallest micro device to the largest power generator
About the Department
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in 2004 and has grown significantly. Now currently offers a UG (B.Tech) program with an intake of 120 seats and PG (M.Tech) programs in Power Electronics, Power engineering and Energy Systems Engineering. The EEE department has been established with the firm commitment of developing and producing quality Electrical and Electronic Engineers with high-technical knowledge and good practical basis, combined with leadership skills and decision making capabilities.
The Head of the Department Mr.G.Vijay Kumar M.Tech having 13 years of teaching experience and is committed to develop the department and its infrastructure. The Department has full pledged well experienced teaching faculty to achieve the department goals. The faculty members have strong sense of responsibility to provide the finest possible education for the students. The department has faculty members from the best in the academics, with vast experience in specializations in Control systems, Electrical Machines, Non-conventional Energy Sources, Power Systems, Power Electronics, drives and controls. The academic strength of the faculty is reflected by the alumni, many of whom are in the top echelons of industry and academia both in India and abroad. The curriculum of the department of electrical and electronics engineering is therefore designed to impart the students consummate knowledge and skills for careers in wide range of industries.
Strengths:
The department initiated developmental activities in the emerging areas of Renewable energy sources like solar energy, wind energy etc. The department has well established Machines, Networks, Measurements, Power Electronics, Microprocessor, Control system and simulation Laboratories. The department is periodically organizing Workshops, industrial visits and Guest lectures.
The department has also taken an initiative of doing theme oriented Projects for UG and PG Students with a theme of Renewable energy sources like solar and wind energies and the Department guided number of Projects for U.G and P.G students successfully with new technologies. From the last year the E.E.E department is also planning to install a 1 MW SOLAR POWER PROJECT within the institution to meet the power demand and distribute the surplus power to the government electricity board.
The present final year students are planning to design a “HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE” that runs with power obtained from renewable energy sources like solar and wind energy as a main project.
